[Read all news]There are roles for people who are activity superstars, have qualifications in a particular skill area or have experience in teaching and mentoring kids. Heaps of energy, enthusiasm and a love for children is a must! The positions below outline three different ways that you can get involved with camp life.
General Counsellor'Counsellors' are in charge of a group of ‘campers' general well-being and ensure that their 'charges' enjoy all their activities safely.
It's likely that you'll end up taking part in many of the activities, so while you don't need to be an expert, the Aussie ‘have-a-go' attitude is essential. On a typical day, you could find yourself jumping from tennis to archery or finding yourself being dragged across a lake on one of those inflatable banana things!
Activity LeadersIf you have solid experience in a sports or arts activity, you could become an Activity Leader.
You'll spend the majority of your time assisting in one or more particular activities, making sure the kids have fun and get the support and guidance they need to improve!
You should have coaching experience and confidence in your chosen field and can communicate with people of all ages.
SpecialistSpecialists take on the overall responsibility of organising and coaching a particular activity on camp. They're the experts in their field and are the staff that Activity Leaders will assist.
It's likely that your days will be dedicated to coaching one or two areas. And although camps hire specialists in a wide variety of areas, we're on the look out for applicants in the following skills areas:
Sports:
|
| Arts:
|
Of course, Specialists also play a part in overall camp life, so you should expect to have childcare duties and be prepared to take part in other activities during the day and evening.
