This camp is looking for the following skillsets & experience:
Camp Awosting is a sleepaway camp for boys ages 7-16 on Bantam Lake in Northwest Connecticut. We have a sister camp, Camp Chinqueka, just 15 minutes away. We are only 2 hours from New York City and 2.5 hours from Boston. Established in 1900, we are the oldest continuously running (with the exception of COVID year) boys camp in the United States. We also offer an extensive list of activities to our campers, from Wakeboarding to Ropes Course, Laser Tag to Go-Karts, and many more!
Each week, staff get a full 24 hour day off. They also get 2 additional nights off per week, from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am. They are able to leave the camp premises during this time, as we have a rental car onsite that staff can rent for days and evenings off. There will be 8-10 staff off each day.
Applicants should be at least 19 years old and have completed one year of university or college beyond high school. We look for staff who have worked with children before in any capacity - coach, babysitter, mentor, etc. We hire activity specialists ONLY, so please detail the strongest areas that you would be able to teach. We do not hire assistants or general counselors, as most activities are operated by a single staff member, responsible for the daily planning and execution of a particular activity area (i.e. arts & crafts or archery). Exceptions would be in the sports field, ropes, and waterfront programs. We look for staff who are outgoing and fun yet are also safety conscious.
